![]() ![]() Usually we have to scrounge the bottom of the barrel for the last few films in this category, but this year the lineup is stacked! With the baffling decision to run May December in Comedy, we now have to make an annoying cut, with Ben Affleck’s Air barely missing the lineup. So while Anatomy of a Fall and The Zone of Interest could potentially show up here, I’m leaving them out until we see how they want to handle the split categories. ![]() It remains to be seen how liberal they will be with this rule, or if they will reserve the right to put in only juggernaut films like Roma and Parasite when they pop up once every few years. In addition to expanding the lineups to six, the HFPA now allows foreign-language films to compete in the Drama and Musical/Comedy categories in ADDITION to their separate Foreign Language category. There is an interesting rule change this year that is worth mentioning at the Globes. The 81st Golden Globes are only a month away, with nominations being announced this coming Monday! It is the first major stop of awards season and a glimpse at what films might do well (and poorly) at the precursors en route to the Oscars! With a slew of changes to the roster, including expanded lineups of six (6) and a couple brand-new categories, what can we expect to see from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) on December 11th? ![]()
